For those of you who watched the last series of Top Gear (particularly episode five) you, like myself, may have been in stunned amazement watching the truly exceptional tribute to Ayrton Senna in celebration of what would have been his 50th Birthday. Senna remains my idol and for those without any real knowledge of the triple World Champion, Top Gear’s piece on the great Brazilian was truly inspiring. You may have also paid close attention to Jeremy Clarkson’s closing comments, in which he said "there is a film coming out on Ayrton Senna next year and I urge you all to see it...it’s fantastic". So it was only fitting then that on the weekend of the Japanese Grand Prix, where Senna won each of his three World Championships, the long awaited ‘Senna: The Movie’ should have its first public screening at the track. Here is the trailer for the feature film which be realeased in Europe next year
The film takes a look at the life of Senna which contains previously unseen footage and voiceovers from Senna himself. However the main focus is mainly around his Formula One career including three World Championships and his battles with arch rival Alain Prost. And yes, I have been made aware that the film’s conclusion entwines with that fateful weekend at Imola. I’m already preparing the tissues.
