Onboard in Australia

With just four and a half days to go until the start of the new season, I feel it is time we F1 fans remind ourselves of some on track action at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne. I have put together a collection of onboard videos from Grand Prix cars in Australia as a prelude to the first round of the 2011 F1 season. Enjoy!

Here are a few onboard laps with Bruno Senna driving last season's Hispania car. It was only its second race and it is quite noticeably a very difficult car to drive. You may also pay close attention to Senna's car control; he isn't even on the limit yet his fighting with the steering wheel like it is a hacksaw. Senna may have been unable to showcase his talents driving for HRT but he should be applauded for merely keeping that car on the asphalt having seen this footage.

Let me guess; your thinking to yourselves "this isn't Melbourne?" Well you would be correct: this onboard footage from michael Schumacher's Benetton from 1993 around the marvellous Adelaide circuit. This circuit, which was last on the F1 calendar in 1995, was hugely popular amongst the F1 fraternity. Furthermore, it was also raced on to death by me and a few friends on the Playstation game 'F1 1995'. Sit back and enjoy a magnificent driver on an historic circuit.

Jenson Button has won the last two Australian Grand Prix but with the Mclaren seemingly off the pace he may find it difficult to achieve a hat trick this weekend. The 2009 Chamoion was also on pole here in 2006 ahead of the Renault's of Giancarlo Fisichella and Fernando Alonso. Above is Button's pole lap and watch out for a blindingly quick final sector.

My final onboard video is from last year's race in Melbourne and focuses on the chaotic start to the Grand Prix. You will ride onboard with Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Felipe Massa, Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastien Buemi and Vitaly Petrov during a frantic first lap.

Hopefully we have a similarly spectacular start on Sunday.

Josh.
