Onboard at Circuit de Catalunya

The Spanish Grand Prix is just one week away so, as ever, here are some onboard clips ahead of round five of the 2011 season.

The 1990 Spanish Grand Prix will be forever remembered for the elder generation of F1 fans. First of all, Martin Donnelly had an enormous accident on Friday in his Lotus. His car hit the barriers at frightening speed and disintegrated. Donnelly was left lying on the track, his legs badly broken and the remains of his seat still strapped to his back. Amazingly he survived although he would never race in F1 again. In spite of the accident the race would go on, and in Ayrton Senna claimed his 50th, and probably his best, pole position. The Brazilian exhibited astonishing commitment in Jerez and took pole by four tenths of a second ahead of arch rival Alain Prost's Ferrari. Trust me, Senna's lap in Jerez is mesmerising.

Pole number three of Jenson Button's incredible championship winning season was a mighty effort at the Barcelona circuit. Here is his lap driving the Brawn, with commentary from his former race engineer Andrew Shovlin.

Fernando Alonso has only won his home Grand Prix once since his arrival in 2001 and will be desperate to take his second victory in front of his adoring fans this weekend. Alonso's Ferrari looked much improved in Turkey last weekend and will hoping to continue his new found momentum in Spain. This lap, in 2003, saw Alonso qualify 2nd before finishing just five seconds behind Michael Schumacher the following day. Expert commentary from Martin Brundle.

Josh.
