Onboard at Valencia

The 2011 F1 season has been nothing short of unpredictable as we prepare for round eight of the championship. With just over a third of the season completed, Sebastian Vettel leads Jenson Button by 60 points in the drivers standings. Will Valencia signal the start of a fightback? We'll have to wait and see.

Last year in Valencia, we saw one of the biggest non-fatal F1 crashes in history. As you will see from this footage, Mark Webber was extremely lucky to survive this crash with Lotus' Heikki Kovalainen. Webber was able to walk away from this enormous accident scot free. It was a massive relief.

It had been almost five years but In Valencia in 2009, Rubens Barrichello was a Grand Prix winner once again. His tenth win in F1, beating Lewis Hamilton due to a superb strategy, was arguably one of his finest. He was undoubtedly Brawn's better driver in the second half of the 2009 season and finished the season third in the standings. Rubens also gives a track guide in this video.

As we have seen since Valencia was added to the calendar in 2008, overtaking is virtually impossible. However, that didn't stop Kamui Kobayashi last season. Pitting just four laps from the end whilst running third, Kobayashi flew passed Ferrari's Fernando Alonso on the super-soft tyres before passing Sebastian Buemi on the final corner of the final lap to take seventh. Similar excitement in 12 days time would be marvellous.

Josh.
